Federal and State Criminal Defense

Ahmad & Associates serve clients throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area as well as Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. We believe that handling sensitive legal matters in a respectful, discreet manner provides our clients an invaluable service. Whether the matter is a DWI, white collar crime, or drug offense, we can help.

Our criminal defense attorneys represent individuals from all backgrounds, including professionals, and those of foreign background, in all felony and misdemeanor matters. In many of our cases an indictment, not to mention a conviction, would have a catastrophic impact on our clients' careers and personal lives and also, if applicable, their immgration status. For state representation, our attorneys are licensed in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, but they may appear in out of state proceedings with the respective court’s permission. (See attorney profiles for specific states in which they are licensed.) If your career or reputation is at stake, we can help. Contact us today.

Misdemeanor Crimes

Our attorneys have years of criminal defense experience in representing clients — when they have been accused of DUI, DWI, domestic violence, simple assault, retail theft, forgery, and many other types of crimes — in state and federal courts. We handle state and federal felony and misdemeanor charges involving any type of non-violent criminal offense. For immigrants, many times, a conviction for any of these minor crimes has irreversible consequences on their immgration status. It is for this reason that they seek out the experience of our attorneys who can not only handle their criminal matter, but are aware of any immigration consequences of a conviction.

Post-Conviction Relief Act

Very often people plead guilty to criminal matters (sometimes simply to put the matter to rest, regardless of their actual guilt), but are not made aware of the immigration consequences of their guilty plea. They are then placed in removal proceedings. Under recent changes in the law it may be possible to have the criminal case re-opened through a post-conviction relief filing before the criminal court judge, depending on the state. Our attorneys are able to aid in this process or we have criminal defense attorneys in other states who may be able to file such post-conviction relief petitions (PCRA) or "coram nobis" petitions.

White Collar Crimes

Our attorneys have years of criminal defense experience in state and federal courts. We handle state and federal felony and misdemeanor charges involving any type of non-violent criminal offense.

Federal Criminal Defense and Federal Criminal Appeals

We handle federal court matters in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Pennsylvania, and other various federal circuit courts nationwide. Where needed, we appear as “pro hac vice” (out of state) attorneys, with the respective court’s permission.

State Criminal Defense and State Criminal Appeals

Most criminal offenses are charged at the state level. Our Maryland and Pennsylvania licensed attorneys have over 30 years of collective experience defending clients in state courts.

Sex Crimes

Being charged with a sex crime is a life-altering experience. At Ahmad & Associates, we defend individuals charged with any type of sex crime.

DWIs, DUIs and Traffic Offenses

If you are facing charges for a traffic offense in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Annapolis, and Rockville, our DUI attorneys at Ahmad & Associates can help.
